Chinese superstar Jackson Wang returns with emotional new single 'BULLET TO THE HEART' today

Jackson Wang
Jackson Wang

Triple-threat Jackson Wang is a Chinese rapper, singer and dancer and also currently the lead member of phenomenon K-pop group GOT7 based in South Korea. Jackson is breaking out in true form with his newest solo single, “BULLET TO THE HEART” today via Western and 6th. Listen to it HERE.

Asoulful pop record that pairs minimalist instrumentation and galvanizing 808s with Jackson’s distinct voice and emotionally entangled lyrics, “BULLET TO THE HEART” highlights the artist’s steadfastness in the face of pain and hardship.

To coincide with the single, Jackson has also released the music video for “BULLET TO THE HEART” today. Directed by Daniel Cloud Campos, whose credits include Zedd, Paramore, and Panic! at the Disco, among others, the music video compliments the inner-struggle of Jackson’s lyrics -- as represented by an enigmatic femme fatale figure who has captured Jackson’s attention and exudes control over his feelings.

Jackson explains “Listeners might analyze the song as a love story. It is, but it’s also applicable to much more than romantic love. We always face different obstacles in life. No matter how successful you are, hardships are still going to keep coming like an endless cycle; they will keep torturing you on this journey to success. A perspective that I am trying to portray is that when your passion and dedication to something are so strong, they can hold a large amount of power over you! So powerful that you are willing to repeat this endless cycle, willing to accept the torture. I believe we are able to endure and accomplish anything because love overcomes everything”

At the age of 13, Jackson started pursuing his passion in music, which led him to sign with South Korea’s top multinational entertainment company and record label JYP. This astonishing feat has allowed Jackson to perform and tour with GOT7 to present day. While Jackson had success as an Olympian fencer prior to his musical endeavors, he realized how deeply his passion and dedication was to his artistic craft, thus rejected many athletic offers to ivy league universities. Jackson has quickly built a fan base in Asia and North America, selling out major arenas including The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York with GOT7. When Jackson started focusing on his solo career in 2017, his first pop hit single “Papillon” quickly topped Billboard China’s V Chart and landed a #1 spot in QQ music. The music video for “Papillon” gained over 27 million views in just 48 hours, stirring fandom with over 59 million fans and making “Weibo’s Hot Topic List”. Shortly after, his single “Okay” landed the #1 spot on the iTunes Chart in four countries and made him the fastest Chinese artist to reach 10 million views on VEVO.

As a believer in the power of music, Wang attests that music changes emotions and connects all cultures around the world. In addition to working with Grammy nominated artists such as GoldLink and household names like Gucci Mane, Jackson has amassed a cult following that exceeds 35 million fans across social platforms. Jackson has pierced the cultural zeitgeist as the face of lifestyle brands such as Fendi, Armani, Adidas, Pepsi, Ray-Ban, BMW and VIVO.

This past year, the 25-year old artist, writer and composer has immersed himself in the creative process. Other chart topping singles that display his writing, composition and arrangement ability include, “Different Game” featuring Gucci Mane, which reached #1 on the US iTunes Hip-hop/Rap Chart and “Fendiman” which transcended both musical and cultural heights as the first record from a Chinese artist to chart #1 on the US iTunes Single Chart and Pop Chart.

Debelic is happy to launch her very first solo single titled “Dame” (Too Many), which she co-wrote with Archie Malate, Kim David Obejas and Daniel Gerardo Ytterdahl. The song tells a story about a girl who is carefully picking a man among her suitors.

"It’s about finding a quality person who will stick with you no matter what," Debelic said of "Dame." "And masaya po ako (I am happy) that I get to sing this song in Tagalog, my second language and work with an amazing team."

Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino 2019 performers: Barbie Almalbis, Cooky Chua, Bayang Barrios, Dong Abay, Wency Cornejo, Rizal Underground

Presented by the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino 2019 is proud to present what may possibly be its biggest and most diverse festival lineup yet. It will feature more than 70 music showcases spanning bar performances, concerts, railways jams, multimedia guestings, busking sessions, songwriting workshops, theatrical specials and out-of-town gigs.

The annual music festival aims to promote the awareness and appreciation of all forms of Filipino music through a variety of on-ground and online platforms starting July 20, 2019. It will happen in different music venues all over the Philippines from Metro Manila to Davao City.

A commitment to promote and develop Filipino music
Linggo Ng Musikang Pilipino has always shown consistency in terms of championing top-notch Filipino music,” OPM president Ogie Alcasid stated. “It’s inspiring to see the project evolve into a sustainable platform that helps local musicians to showcase their work to a diverse but receptive audience.”

The week-long celebration of Filipino music is part of the local government’s commitment to promote and develop the local music industry. This is in accordance with Proclamation No. 933, which declared the last week of July every year as Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino.

“We also have partners from both the government and private sector who support our vision for LMP,” Alcasid shared. “We hope to continue where we started off and hopefully build a viable music ecosystem that we can share with the rest of the world.”

Themed performances and curated shows
Expect another exciting milestone in Filipino music as LMP puts a spotlight on high-profile performances ranging from the reunion concert of ‘90s alternative rock icons Rizal Underground on July 2, 2019 at 70s Bistro to the highly anticipated restaging of "Rak of Aegis" Season 7 on July 27, 2019 at 8 p.m. and July 28, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the Philippine Educational Theater Association Theater in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Also, the annual observance dares to step up its curation with themed showcases featuring ‘90s music legends including Barbie Almalbis, Wency Cornejo, Dong Abay and Cooky Chua. There will bar shows all over the Metro and provinces, stripped-down sessions on several venues and pocket stages and open mics in various gig hubs.

The OPM is also collaborating with the Light Rail Manila Corporation for “Railway Jams,” a series of live sessions to entertain commuters who are waiting for their train rides. Numerous busking activities have already taken place this month and will continue for more months as part of the institutions’ collaborative efforts in giving local musicians a space to showcase their musical gifts.

Mall-goers are in for a treat as Powerplant Mall and Lucky Chinatown Mall will be staging music shows to serenade guests with soothing music while they dine or shop. Some of the performers include Bea Lorenzo, Cookie Chua and The Manila String Machine.

A multi-platform celebration
The multi-platform celebration will also host the upcoming single, album, and music video launches of select OPM members on several intimate venues in Metro Manila. These include the highly anticipated EP release of PhilPop Grand Winner Chud Festejo.

To intensify the campaign, several local music acts will be guesting on TV, radio and online music platforms to perform their originals and covers for the entire month of July. Participating multimedia shows include ABS-CBN’s "ASAP Natin ‘To," DZMM’s "Todo Todo Walang Preno," Home Radio 97.9, WISH FM 107.5, Inq Pop, Inq Publications: Showbiz Live and EDGE TV.

All of the Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino 2019 activities were prepared in partnership with Light Rail Manila Corporation, Ikot MNL, PETA, Power Plant Mall, PhilPop and other digital, bars and other production partners. OPM board member Noel Cabangon noted, “The celebration is an assertion to inject in the consciousness of the Filipinos that we have our own treasure trove, local and regional, written in national and local languages, of songs that reflect our culture and that we Filipinos should have the consciousness to support it."

"We are on our 5th year since the Presidential Proclamation 933 was signed in 2014," Cabangon continued. "It is very young and it is a struggle but it is very important that we have this mandate from the government. At least now we’re gaining grounds. Hopefully we’ll get more support in the years to come.”

Check out the scheduled performances below:

Mark Oblea experiments with new sound in latest single 'Ain't It Lovely'

Mark Oblea

Singer-songwriter Mark Oblea is back with a new sound with his latest single 'Ain't It Lovely.'

Ain't It Lovely delves further into Oblea's exploration of the alternative pop genre, being a love song that features more of a folk sound than his previous outings. His rendition of Paraluman's classic song 'Tabi' has garnered over 3.7 million plays on the streaming platform Spotify.

Talking more about the song, which is written and produced by fellow Universal Records artist Fern., he says "I've always wanted to do a song such as this - one that gives off an indie romantic vibe. And at the same time, I want to offer something new to my listeners, as I explore new vocal styles and with this being my first original English track."

Ain't It Lovely is certainly not a track to miss, with its romantic vibe and a sound that will resonate with today's generation.

The track is now available to stream and download on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music under Universal Records.

syd hartha takes pro-women stand on new single 'ayaw'

Syd Hartha

Upcoming singer-songwriter syd hartha breaks out from the mold with the release of her new single, "ayaw."

Known for her intricate folk-pop sketches and disarming vocals, the 17-year-old artist  takes a step back from her confessional musings to affirm her stand against sexual harassment and abuse towards women in general.

The empowering number, which syd hartha wrote as a reminder for people to respect boundaries, delivers an inspiring message that puts into light the importance of consent. "It is undeniable that sexual harassment continues to be a prevalent issue that we face today," syd hartha points out. "I feel for the victims of catcalling and rape, and understand how hard it is to talk about their experience. As a musician who some people look up to, I know I have to use my voice in behalf of all the victims and survivors. This inspired me to write ayaw."

A well-conceived effort that embraces her newfound strength as a singer-songwriter, "ayaw" suggests lyrical confidence and maturity that's beyond her age. Production-wise, it's her most sonically adventurous release to date: an excursion to a more bluesy territory, a more organic vibe that gives her personality the spunk and edge it needs.

"ayaw" is syd hartha's third single, and her first official release under Sony Music Philippines. The song is now available on streaming and download platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes store and Deezer.

LYRICS: 'Barbie Dreams' by Nicki Minaj

Words and Music by Nicki Minaj, Rivelino Wouter, Rashad Smith, Melvin Hough II
Performed by Nicki Minaj

Uh
R.I.P. to B.I.G
Classic shit
I’m looking for a nigga to give some babies
A hand full of Weezy, sprinkle of Dave East
Man, I ain’t got no type, like Jxmmi and Swae Lees
But if he can’t fuck three times a night, peace
I tried to fuck 50 for a powerful hour
But all the nigga wanna do is talk Power for hours
Beat the pussy up, make sure it’s a K-O
Step your banks up like you’re moving that ya-yo
Somebody go and make sure Karrueche okay though
I heard she think I’m tryna give the coochie to Quavo
They always wanna beat it up, goon up the pussy
Man, maybe I should let him autotune up the pussy
All these Bow Wow challenge niggas lying and shit
Man, these Fetty Wap niggas stay eyeing my shit
Drake worth a hundred milli, always buying me shit
But I don’t know if the pussy wet or if he crying and shit
Meek still be in my DMs, I be having to duck him
“I used to pray for times like this”
Face ass when I fuck him
Man, Uzi is my baby, he ain’t takin’ an L
But he took it literally when I said, “Go to hell”
Used to fuck with Young Thug, I ain’t addressing this shit
C-c-caught him in my dressing room, stealing dresses and shit
I used to give this nigga with a lisp testers and shit
How you want the pu-thy? Can’t say your Ss and shit
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
I remember when I used to have a crush on Special Ed
Shoutout Desiigner, ’cause he made it out of special ed
You wanna fuck me, you gotta give some special head
‘Cause this pussy had these niggas on some special meds
Like Mike Tyson, he was biting my shit
Talking ’bout, “Yo, why you got these niggas fighting and shit?”
On the real, I should make these niggas scrap for the pussy
Young M.A. and Lady Luck, get the strap for this pussy, uh
And I would’ve had Odell Beckham banging the cake
‘Til I saw him hopping out of cars dancing to Drake
I been a five-star bitch, man, word to Gotti
I’ma do that nigga Future dirty, word to Scotty
Had to cancel DJ Khaled, boy, we ain’t speaking
Ain’t no fat nigga telling me what he ain’t eating
YG and The Game with the hammer yelling, “Gang, gang”
This ain’t what I meant when I said a gang bang
Tekashi want a ménage, I said tre-way
Curved him and went the Kim and Kanye way
Em, cop the Barbie Dreamhouse then you can play the part
I ain’t tryna bust it open in the trailer park
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams of fucking one of these little rappers
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Barbie dreams
Barbie dreams
I’m just playing, but I’m saying
Dreams
[Beat Switch]
You know I’m all about them dollars
I be supporting them scholars
I let him give me some brain
But he wanted me to ride it
So I said, “Fuck it, I’m in”
He want a cut like a trim
And if he act like he know
I let him fuck it again
I got them bars, I’m indicted
I’m popping, I’m uninvited
I said just lick on the clitoris, nigga, don’t fucking bite it
I ride his, in the circle
I turn Stefan into Urkel
I go around and around and I’ma go down in slow motion
Then I pick it up, look at it
I said, “Daddy, come get at it,” uh
Yellow brick road, he said that I am a wiz at it
Yeah, they want it, want it
You know I flaunt it, flaunt it
I’m a trendsetter
Everything I do, they do
Yeah, put ’em up on it, on it
Dimelo papi, papi
Yo quiero sloppy, sloppy
I’ll give it to you if you beat it up like Baki, Baki
I’ma kill ’em with the shoe, no ceiling is in the roof
And I’m big, give me the loot, twelve cylinders in the Coupe
I get down with the chrome, I tell ’em when I’ma shoot
I just bang, bang, bang, real killers is in my group
Gorillas is in my unit, vacationin’ where it’s humid
And I shine, shine, shine, got diamonds all in my cubans
I’m in LA Times more than when niggas lootin’
And my flow spit crack, I think that nigga usin’
He done bodied everybody, in closing these bitches losin’
Using, using up a bitch movin’
No I ain’t Studdard and no I ain’t Ruben
Damn, a bitch snoozin’
Shoutout to my Jews, l’chaim, Rick Rubin
Big fat titties, yes, they be protrudin’
I be like, fuck ’em, fuck ’em, bring the lube in
I be like fuck ’em, fuck ’em, bring the lube in

Hints of Maine’s signing first hit the web after Universal Records posted a teaser photo of a ‘mystery girl’ wearing a leather jacket bearing the word Universal on it. Fans were quick to catch on, as #MaineForUniversalRecords became the #1 Trending Topic on Twitter in the Philippines and Worldwide not long after the teaser was posted.

The mystery girl was finally shown to be non-other than Maine herself on June 22, as posted through a Big Reveal video, further exciting her fans.

Signing with Universal Records is just the latest accolade for the 23 year-old star, as she celebrates her third anniversary in show business. Rising to stardom after being introduced as Yaya Dub on the hit noontime show Eat Bulaga, Maine has amassed a number of endorsements, TV shows, box-office hits, and a best-selling book. Now, Maine is more than ready to trade in her dubsmash skills to pursue a recording career, adding to her many talents.

Talking about Maine’s signing, Kathleen Dy-Go, General Manager of Universal Records says “We’re very happy to welcome Maine into the Universal Records family, and very excited to be working with her for her upcoming projects.”

Maine now joins Gary Valenciano, Christian Bautista, Noel Cabangon, The CompanY, Parokya ni Edgar, Gloc-9, Sponge Cola, Ice Seguerra, Shanti Dope, Christian Bautista, and Elmo Magalona in the elite roster of Universal Records’ prime artists.

LYRICS: 'Di Na Muli' by The Itchyworms

Words and Music by Jazz Nicolas and Wally Acolola
Performed by The Itchyworms (Jazz Nicolas, Chino Singson, Jugs Jugueta, Kelvin Yu)

Jazz Nicolas, Chino Singson, Jugs Jugueta, Kelvin Yu

Verse:
Nung araw kay tamis ng ating buhay
Puno ng saya at ng kulay
Di mauulit muli

Ang oras kapag hinayaang lumipas
Madarama mo hanggang bukas
Di mababawi muli

Chorus:

Patawad muli
Di na muli

Binawi buhay mo ng walang sabi
Binubulong ko sa sarili
Mahal kita hanggang sa huli
Mahal ko hanggang sa huli
